|UPDATE: The following information is out of date however we will soon be releasing a new version of our anti cheat scan. More news as it happens... Please bookmark this page and come back for updates!
If you wish to register your interest in the scanner or voulenteer to assist (it will be a VB application) then please register on the forums and post in our recruitment section!
When SFH was formed a recruitment drive by the clan leader at the time created an influx of people. Young and innocent as the clan was two members were found to have cheat code and one was blatantly using cheat code in game. Their prompt dismissal from the clan marked the darkest moment in SFH clan history.
Since this diabolical incident SFH has been active supporters of anti-cheat methods. All new clan members that have joined since the incident have undergone cheat scans of various types. The one we used for a long time, indeed the one I joined the clan using was a simple code that searched for OGC... files containing OGC in the name. This meant a zip file called secretOGChacs.zip would be found but also normal windows files such as systemlogcfg.ini would be picked up. Usually you could spot the hacks once they were scanned and displayed in the IRC channel. The script was basic however and could only detect OGC based hacks at best.
With the arrival of Dud in the clan we now had a member who was capable of scripting much more efficient and effectively. Knowing the limitations of the current script Dud set up a new script and setup for the anti-cheat scans. The new script scanned much more rigorously than the previous scans but also rather than spamming the results to all the IRC channels the person was in at the time, the new scan posted the results into a protected channel monitored by Dud and SFH administrators. The scan can be found here:
This effectively started the SFH anti-cheat 'unit'. Led by Dud and his scripting abilities the team moved onto a script that ran in counter strike and enabled a member in-game to search all other members and compare their won ID's to Valve's Blacklist. If a blacklisted person was caught it showed up in-game to alert the admins so that the player could be monitored and/or kicked/banned.
The next step was to enable a search tool to be used outside of IRC yet still display the results in the controlled channel...
As Jaguar has said above we used to use the basic IRC scan that searched for the ogc string in filenames, I however had written this scan off due to its inability to detect any cheats other than ogc, and I can tell you after a lot of research, there are hundreds of other cheats available. So spurred on by my recent venture into IRC scripting, I scripted a fuller scan which searched for around about 20 cheats. This copy + paste IRC scan had many flaws to it, 2 of the main flaws were the inability to detect new cheats, and the second, and most obvious to the trained eye, id people are asked to copy + paste, what's going to stop them from missing a part of the scan out?
So, very dismayed at the amount of cheaters getting through this scan I decided to go all out, to try and detect the most cheats I can possibly detect with a new IRC scan. If I were to do this using an IRC script it would still leave the flaw of people just removing a slice of the scan out, also with around 200 cheats to be added to the scan this copy + paste line would be ridiculously long! Using my limited scripting abilities in VB I decided to script a program which can:
- Not be tampered with, i.e. delete part of the scan
- To be easily updatable
- To be able to hold many hundreds of cheat definitions
- Still output the results of the scan to IRC
- Be able to search multiple drives and network drives
So by doing this I would need to be doing a lot of research into cheat sites... at the moment the scanner will search your hard drive for around 40 cheats and output them to IRC. This is a fantastic improvement on the old basic IRC scan, it was also a LOT faster at scanning and outputting and it did not freeze your mIRC client which many users previously complained about. Future versions of the |SFH| cheat scanner will include:
- Auto cheat definition updates
- Auto Program update
- A second program that can be used by any clans.

The second method of cheat prevention/detection I use is Cheater Log, which is a massive database of reported won id's, This database is so useful because it gets its banned won id's straight from valve. The program can be run on your desktop or it has cs commands for searching the server your on for blacklisted won id's. This has proved very useful to us as we have found 3 reported people in only 2 days of usage, one of them we suspected in the first place...
Dud signing off
The 'campaign' isn't over. Valve and others are continuing to develop anti-cheat resources and so are we.
