Right, lets be having your top 10 list of best games ever and merciless berating of mine. Here they are, in no particular order:
Grand Theft Auto 3 onward series – PS2 / PC
Half Life / Counterstrike series - PC
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge - PC / Amiga
Goldeneye 007 – N64
Metal Gear Solid - PS2
Doom II - PC
Prince of Persia series – PS2
God of War - PS2
Civilization II - PC / Amiga
Cannon Fodder - Amiga
Honourable mentions also go out to:
Resident Evil 4 - PS2
Need for Speed - PS2
Hitman series - PS2
Sensible World of Soccer - Amiga
FIFA 2003 - PS2
Flashback - Amiga
Tomb Raider II - PC
The Dizzy series - Spectrum
I'd put in Honourable Mentions for Tetris and Snake too, but they're so ubiquitous now that I think they've transcended the term 'game' and become a part of everyday culture. I'm sure I've forgotten some other classics. Please enlighten me. (Before anyone says anything, I'd just like to say that I don't rate any of the Mario or Final Fantasy games.)
GO!

That's the idea... sparking debate and conversation. I've got another topic coming up that will follow on from this one. When I deem response to this good enough, I will post it too!

Not necessarily the top 10 best games ever but certainly the 10 I played the most over the last 17 years!
Mario Kart (SNES) Frontier Elite 2 (Amiga) Civilisation 2 (Amiga) Alpha Centauri (PC) - I once scored 119% on this in multiplayer against Uplink! Sensible World of Soccer (Amiga) Counter-Strike (PC) Dawn of War (PC) Conflict in Vietnam (Atari 65XE/800XL - 8 bit - made by Sid Meier too!) Age of Empires 2 Settlers / Settlers 2 (3+ were pants)
Heavilly strategy based when I look back at them I guess!

Dear god, I completely forgot Settlers – an AWESOME game, which I spent many, many hours playing, and rediscovered quite recently for a short stint. That game is still excellent.
I also forgot Delta Force 1, which I also played a hell of a lot.
Honourable mentions go out to both these games.
