Hello peeps,

Just moved into my new flat in Brighton, got a desk and my pc setup, 8mb wifi (35Gig a month limit, which I'm gonna have to sort out as I probably already used 25 in a day) and time to come and play games again. waaayyyy....problem is my pc is still playing up, bf2 don't run properly anymore - I just reinstalled windows, it looks like a gfx card lockup, I think my card is on the way out...

So I wanted to know from you friendly people which graphics card you think I should get. I have a Athlon 64 3700+ (socket 939) and I've currently got a AGP GeForce 6800, I really wanna move onto PCI-E, so I'll need a new Mobo. I want it to be compatible with a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ for my next upgrade.

So I was thinking something like:
EVGA GeForce 7950 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-014-EA)

or

XFX GeForce 7950GT 550M 512MB GDDR3, PCI-Express, HDCP, 2xDVI, Heatpipe

or

Gainward GeForce 7950GT 512MB,1,4ns DDR3 ,PCI-Express, "BP7950GT-512-TV-DD"

So whats the best make, EVGA, XFX or Gainward.

and for the Mobo

Abit KN8 SLi nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-088-AB)

or

EPoX EP-9NPA3 SLI, nForce4 SLI, Socket 939, ATX, S-ATA2, GbLAN, DDR, PCI-Ex16

or

ABIT AT8-32X, ATI RD580+ULI M1575, OTES, Socket-939, Crossfire XP3200, 2xPCI-Ex16

EPox or ABIT, - the abit one on overclockers has a 2GHz "effective" (whatever that means) FSB, both abit have 2 pci-e slots...

The sooner you tell me what to get, the sooner I'll be back to full fighting force!

Yeah that Asus board is damn good.

One word of warning, AMD hvae moved over to there new AM2 socket, and thus they will start stopping prouction of the old 939 chips quite soon.

So don't leave it too late to upgrade the processor as you might find it hard.

I wouldnt get an epox mobo for the same reason as demonboy says. i do like the Asus mobo's! so the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe, nForce4 SLI X16, Socket-939, Dual-GbLAN, Firew, PCI-Ex16 would be my choice i gues. you should also check the ATI graphics cards. I was used to nvidia but now i always have ATI.

My configuration is:

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
AMD 3500+ 64bit
ASUS ATI x1900xt 512MB
1 GB memory (will upgrade to 1,5)

verry happy with that configuration!! and i'm gonna get me a raptor 10.000 rpm harddisk as soon as i have some cash.

according to overclockers.co.uk, the EVGA GeForce 7950 GX2 is the worlds fastest GX2...so I'm tempted to get the EVGA GeForce 7950 GT

Now please fit them right this time!

remember:
memory will only go in one way, do not force it.
if the GFX is a dual slot REMOVE the blanking plate.
Make sure your PSU is good enough.
