So my boss calls me over earlier this morning and says "I'm thinking of sending you to New York during the Ead holiday in two weeks, to do some research on top Banks and Bank Branding. What do you think?
And I say... "No".
But wait! I did it in the best interests of the spirit of the venture (I'm so damn dedicated to the job!).
I happen to know that New York is not exactly a hotbed of Bank brand expertise and still has a lot of small uninspiring local Banks and a few of the big players who are everywhere... not much to learn. At least it did last time I checked. I'm now doing a bit of research to see if it would be worth going after all. Hopefully it will!
But during the conversation I did raise the possibility of going to South Africa instead, as I do know of a Bank that has done a very successful rebrand there. Or maybe China. And now I'm doing some research on that too, so maybe I'll get to go somewhere new!! WOO HOO!
But on the same topic, I've just realised that I have a resource right here at SFH worth tapping re. bank branding... Can you guys tell me what Bank(s) you bank with and why? And what would make you switch Banks? And anything else that might be useful.

lloyds TSB... complete smeggin assholes with charges n things like that but customer service etc is excellent.
and online banking is upto the minute upto date... dont know about any other online banking systems in the uk but i know a big chunk of american banks only update the online stuff every 5 days... :S to me thats stupid but oh well.
also big part of my banking choice is theres only clydsedale bank, bank of scotland, royal bank of scotland and lloyds tsb within an hours drive of where i live.

I've still got an account with Royal Bank of Scotland, and they are very good. Excellent customer service and online banking system.
I actually think the US lags behind Europe (the UK and Spain in particular) when it comes to banking, which is why I didn't think it was neccessarily useful to do research there. Plus I've been to NY three times now, and if work is paying, I'd like to go somewhere new like South Africa or Spain!

I am with Alliance and Leciester. They are incompetent and the runnning balance is never right. For example:
Overdraft: 1000
Cash in account: 542
Cash available should be: 1542 instead it is 1120 or something silly. I know there may be payments pending and things but never that much. Its stoopid. Something that would make me consider switching is online customer services thing becuase us working types can never get to a bank unless it's lunchtime or the weekend and sometimes you just need to ask something / complain / shout, etc.
And less services where I have to go into the bank all the time it certify that I am me!
Online ticketing would be a good idea as long as they actually reply (unlike Eclipse).

I hear some of the purely online branchless banks are wicked and are some of the best...can't remember any names of them at the mo.

With Nationwide, they've got a good current account and savings and their online services are right up there with the best so I'm very satisfied.
Doubt I will change very soon, Won't need overdraft's or loans until after uni hopefully. (though it looks doubtful).

ive had halifax and rbs for years. Theyve both pissed me off in different way, esp rbs (tho they do have a good online baning system). I still use RBS as my main account just now, however Lindsay and I have just opened up a joint account with Nationwide (for our house, mortgage, bills etc) and if I find the nationwide to be good, I am seriously thinking of ditching RBS, for being total w**kers...
