Lads,
Getting a bit concerned of late. My P4 3.02GHz proccessor seems to reguarly peak at 63degrees C during intensive stuff like screen savers or DC (without any over-clocking or history of over-clocking).
I wouldn't mind but i think its that, that causes my PC to crash so frequently.
Is this normal?
I could have sworn P4's could go up beyond that (about 75-80) before safty measures kicked in.
I admit that i have not got the best CPU fan in the world since it is very noisy, but does anyone else have temperatures like that for similar processors when playing DC?
If anyone agrees with me about my theory, then i will go out and buy a new fan (probably be water-cooled too to future-proof my system) but if anyone else can come up with another reason why it crashes, then i wont bother.
Ta

Hey Harv. I had a problem with BF1943 when i first started playing it. It turned out to be my gfx card (was a winfast geforce 2 Ti). It worked fine for CS and all other games, but BF would crash after about 3-5 mins. I think the card got f**ked because the fan got full of dust, and overheated. I tested BF out on a older gfx card (geforce 1 fx) and it ran fine, but really slow.

I dont think your P4 would be crashing your PC at 63 degrees. But try running a bench mark test thats not graphical (i.e dont use a graphics benchmark, use a cpu one) That should get your cpu upto 63 degrees and not use your gfx card, if it crashes you either have a f**ked cpu, or you are overheating. If not, its most likely your gfx card. Try testing it with a different gfx card, even an older one.

I think you should get water cooling anyway, coz they are coool. I really wanna vapochill case, maybe next payday ehh??

Well f**k that! :(

Just installed the lastest drivers from ATI, and not only did my computer crash and send multiple reports multiple times, but did not boot up twice after doing so! :(
Had to boot in to safe mode and re-install the original drivers! grrrr...
Might re-build my computer when i get back from hols.

possibly worth doing... id say tho that you definately need a new HSF cos even my athlon when its working at maximum capacity and its on a silent HSF combo so runs slightyly higher anyway will never go above 55 degrees. In throry that shouldnt be whats causing your problems however I did have problems at i17 when my machine was hitting the upper 60s due to the temp in the hall... id just bite the bullet and go for the new HSF or water cooling...
