Elo all long time no speak :) been abit busy so havnt had time to come on!
So i got this laptop given to me, an Advent 8315 for free as they was under the impression it didnt work and needed a new HD etc. So i was playing around, turned it on, Booted up in safemode, when through all the command things, then restarted and it started up normally.
So i started cleaning it up abit, Ran CC Cleaner, came back, went to run cleaner on it, it froze, and wouldnt respond, So Shut it down.
Rebooted, now it doesnt boot properly, Basically it will go through all the system bits, but when it comes to starting it doesnt work, Iv tried running safe mode, but as soon as i hit enter on that, the screen goes blank but it still sounds like its doing something? I definitely dont think its the screen/gfx, any ideas please? Would be nice to have a free working laptop :)!

you tried reinstalling a new OS? or its overheating and shutting down?

I havnt tried reinstalling atm as i dont have a vista disc, but i dont think its overheating.
Have taken it apart, taken the ram and Hd out too see if that works! Will try reinstalling the OS

When i run safe mode it hangs on crcdisk.sys. The OS is Vista, cant get hold of a disk at the moment so any ideas?

Just got this, gunna give it ago before i go buying another HD, but yea same conclusion as me bart, cheers mate :)

locate or contact the manufacturer of your device and see if they have and
updated driver for your drives.
Next during the upgrade if asked if you would like to install and third
party drive select F6 or any other key select the option and insert the disk
with the drivers."
Could try this before getting another HD.

Ta bart, went and got another HD in the end was only £30 so cant complain! just need another B key as mines broken ahha! £500 laptop for £30, bargain!

probably need to wait for a game update to be available (should be within a few hours after server update, max.)
you should make a new topic next time though
