Right guys, looking for some laptop advice:

My cousin has just started Uni in London and needs a PC laptop. Budget is maximum £500. Primary use in internet and Word / Powerpoint, though the ability to run some graphics programs reasonably well would be a bonus. I think she needs something better than a netbook, ideally with a DVD drive and 250gb drive or so, and I think 15" (17" too big as it needs to be sensible for carrying around regularly). Windows 7 isn't out until Oct. 22, and she needs it before then, so it will ideally be eligible for a free update to Win 7 when it is launched. I had a look on the PC World website and liked the sound of the Acer 5536, but I'm a bit out of touch on PC laptops these days, being a Mac man myself! The good thing about somewhere like PC World is that she can go to the physical store if there are any problems with it (she's not terribly technical minded!) But ideally we could order it over the internet and either have it delivered or ready for her to pick up, so she doesn't have to think much about it at all.

Oh, secondly, she also needs a small printer to go with it. Needs to be colour and good quality - not too expensive and reasonably cheap and easy to replace the ink (i.e. not a cheap printer that costs the earth to replace ink in!) Ideas on this would also be good!

Thoughts?

TBH for simple, cheap, useable laptops, you cant really go wrong with any dell.

Dell Studio 15s look quite nice and are in budget, at bang on £499:
