bugger that
try nildram - www.nildram.net
50gb peak usage, unlimited from midnight to 8am.
So far their connections have been EXCELLENT. I can max my bw even in the evenings!

I would never go with any ISP that would try to put caps on my DL's.

thats fine - but then all you get is people raping the BW 24/7 hence crap pings in the evenings when u wanna play games. I am limited during peak hours, but my connection speed is still maxed out at 700k and my pings are great even at the busiest times of the day...

Right, that nidram look good as well. PLUS deamonboy knows his sh*t and if he says its good it wud be good
Right to go with that i'm also getting a router
what do you think,
Oh and as long as caps go, well 50 gb is more then enough for me, as the only things i download is lost, heroes and prison break, a few songs, and usual web browsing and gaming.

those routers are fine - v popular and easy to setup
make sure you set the wireless up with WPA encryption.

No no no no no!
NEVER go with netgear routers, they are the worst router I hvae ever used, the wireless dropped every 20 seonds, and it lost connection with the modem atleast once aday.
Harv also had one of those and had lots of issues, infact I don't think I hvae ever heard of any one being happy with that netgear routers.

You must have been lucky I still have my flats old netgear because no one wanted it, they all would rather buy a new router then get this one for free.
A cheap £35 job from silicon is doing a better job back home then this thing ever did.

both of my netgears been better than previous routers.
worst was dlink i think, the belkin and linksys were reasonably good, but netgear no problems so far.

After trying about 5 differant routers, 2 netgears (one of which was an office one, the other the crap home one), 2 cheap brands and a Dlink.
The Dlink is the one that has done so much better then the rest, no internet drops rock soild wireless, perfect port forwards as well as UPnP suport, I can even plug in a usb printer into it.
I would never buy another netgear router, luckly seeing this Dlink is so good I won't need to buy another one for quite some time.

i used a dlink at uni for a year and my dad has one at home, both were fine when they worked but the biggest problem was them freezing up randomly and needing a hard reboot. and yes i tried lots of firmware.

was it after theyd been up for a while? - esp if you had been using P2P?
Chances are its because their routing tables filled up and they didnt know what to do. ALot of cheaper routers have this issue, badly designed. Their tables fill, they dont dump any of the old data off and they run out of memory and crash.
