Ok peeps - question?
I am trying to decide who to go with when I move into my new house. I am currently with eclipse who were great when I 1st started with them but have gone rapidly downhill in recent weeks due to bandwidth contention. They refuse to admit there is an issue and I cant be arsed with them anymore. Can everyone please post below with who they use, what speed they have and what they think of their service (esp at peak times!). Cheers
Eclipse 8mb ADSL Max Peak: Crap Off-Peak: Very Good

Yeah telewest probably a good bet, as long as it's not in the north east. I had an ok connection with them for one year and then the year after in another house the connection was piss poor for the whole year.
Im on BT at the moment and aside from the fact i've got a 2gb cap its mint, low pings and full speed all the time. You can get it upto 60gb a month i think, so would depend how much you rinse it I suppose?

They will basically have 500 people to one card in the exchange, trying to fit as many as possible on one card causes load issues in the evenings etc...

all these free offers means theres more users on the same limited hardware on adsl max, and at 7 - 8pm they all pile on resulting in slow speed and crapy pings. hence im getting cable put in this week which is less likely to expand there user base as quickly as adsl. if you dont have cable line available try and go for an adsl 2 service provider.

well all the current SKY BB hardware is Easynet,a nd they are more or less running the BB side of things. I'm not sure what it is like, but if Easynet engeriners are anthing like there Dev's your scewed!
But at least the software that runs on Sky's end is perfect :D

Easynet run UKOnline dont they, who were the first 8mb provider iirc. I'd feel relatively comfortable if it is true that they are running skys service. Still the fact is that sky will be massively oversubscribed, and because its a free service, as long as you can load one web page an hour they will say you have a satisfactory service. You get what you pay for at the end of the day.
I've not heard any sus about Nildram yet, nor Zen who are probably the most expensive ADSL ISP going but widely regarded as the best.

Well the 2Mb line is only free to those that have Sky TV.
And Sky bought Easynet for this.
I have no idea of the numbers yet but I know the processing is going a bit slow at the moment.

I've just called sky. I get offered 2MB connection, 40GB caped limit £17 a month and £40 activitaion fee. They are takin the piss!!!
I want to change to another provider asap, cause i've cancelled my current broadband.
I'm lookin for speeds up to 2mb (my area only supports 3MB max!!), no contract, no download limit or atleast 40gig capped.
Price has to be reasonable!!
