Me and "the missus"  are planning on getting a laptop for her to use while i am surfing or SWGing, as its always a pain just having the one, also i would like to be able to take it away on work trips so that i can watch DVD's and maybe play some games on it,

I am not talking about an amazing laptop here, budget will be sub £500, the lower the better, it needs to do all the basic functions with a bit of multimedia thrown in, my pc will be main storage so a massive hard drive is not required, i might stick on something for when i am away and the company can pay for online usage, but thats all.

i woud like some recommendations of what to go for, i have looked at Dell and browsed a couple of other shops, but i know little about laptop specifics. i do want wireless built in, and understsand that a bigger screen is useful, is widescreen advisable? if i am watching films i guess it is. What processor should i go for/avoid?

links are welcome, and some good advise too!

Dell Inspiron 6400, its £549... decent spec. Intel Duo... 1GB upgrade for free (remove the extra warrenty to reduce price to £549).

http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/inspn_6400?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs

If you go sub £500 they tend to be std budget at £349...

I wouldnt get anything with less than a gig ram these days...also, Dell customer services are amazing. I had a fault with my laptop, they send a courier to come and pick it up, and devlivered it a few days later fixed, with txt updates to my mobile every step of the way.
