As a short term fix to my long term CS fps problem, I've just bought a Radeon 256mb 9550 agp card off ebay, to stick in my machine. Hopefully should work as is backwards compatible to 4x AGP. Only £18 but should sort out the 10fps in smoke I get with my Geforce 2.
If it works I'll be sad to see the Geforce go, it's been a cracking little card

I think so yes, the auction says it requires 4x/8x AGP motherboard, and ATI website lists under the specification:
# AGP 4X (1.5V), 8X (0.8v) or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration (4X/8X).
So...I'm hoping that means it will work?

Yea as far as I know most cards were always backwards compatible with AGP 4x. My Old Geforce FX5200 was AGP 8x and worked with my 4x Mobo. I miss the silence of the old AGP cards....

Well fingers crossed it will work.
£18 (+ £4 P&P) seems quite cheap as well.
Should come tomorrow.

Appears to work fine. Windows looks much better, I think using DVI has made a difference. CS now runs at 1024x768, and i get 40-50fps in smoke. Whoop whoop. Have to reinstall HL2 and CS:S and see if they're improved.
