Right so ive set my dad up with a wireless router since hes bought a laptop and im trying to transfer files from his old pc to the lapotp using file sharing but the laptop cant get into the pc it says you dont have the permission. All firewalls are disabled. and the pc can access the laptops files anyone know what im doing wrong

make sure you have matching accounts on both pcs with the same account passwords.

There is no accounts and passwords but both pc's are running XP i think its just down to network setup but not sure

can you see each machien from the other, can you ping them from eachother? It may be you need to setup the shares correctly. If you want I could maybe remote on tonight and help you but im not home til 11.30

make sure that there is shared folders to be see on both machines, and also double check that there is no firewall running on either of the machines as well.

yeah i can see both machines the folders are shared. i can transfer from the pc to the laptop just not the laptop to the pc which makes me think something isnt allowing access to the pc from laptop
