looking at my router log just now (8 port linksys wired cable router)

got these weird error things like

[15] tcp->flags=12, or

[15] tcp->flags=18
illegal packet, release it

happening quite a few times, anyone know what the problem is.

coincidentally, i have been getting ping timeouts on hlsw every 10 or 15 secs (usually do in peak hours), wonder if they do coincide with the router dropping packets.

edit: cant seem to find any 'rules' in the router setup which would be why it is dropping packets.

more likely your UBR is overworked - i asked telewest to move me to a different one and it fixed my problem instantly...

oh ok.

yep we're ringing telewest nearly every day and getting the same "your UBR is at 96% capacity, we'll switch you over"

occasionally that works, usually not for long though.

dont see why they wont sort it out.

ubr is like the cable equivalent of a telephone exchange for adsl.
