Can you get away with 350W PSUs for an athlon 64 PCI-E setup or is it likely to need 450+?

yeah i would have thought you'd want at least 400w, just a lot of places sell cases with 350w psu, suggesting you can get away with it.

Don't take that to mean ANYTHING, 350 is the cheapest (and the smallest) PSU you can get, and I beleve that some GFX cards can take about 250W on there own. Also if I rememebr rightly the AMD64 takes atleast 120W as well.

The big question is what GFX card are you going to be running.

but I would say 450w min with any new system.

Go for the larger, you would not want to have to upgrade again if you add more demanding components later in the computers life.

thats the sort of thing spec im thinking about.

tis all just pipe dreams really.

i guess id see what the case was like and if it came with psu then give it a go, if i had problems, splash out on a nice quiet bad boy.

Gama seriously replace that PSU!!! your going to kill it very soon with that setup. you are riding the bare miminum of a X800xt.

There is on reason to be running a low watt PSU a 550 wat one is only about £30..
