So I wanted to ask if anyone if this clan knows of the Tribes games?

Tribes is a series of 3 games: Starsiege: Tribes, Tribes 2 and Tribes: Vengeance. The first game was released in 1998, Tribes 2 2001 and Tribes: Vengeance in 2004.

To those of you who havent heard of them (I would guess between 95% and 100% of the clan), well Tribes could best be described as a "futuristic FPS game" or "FPS+Z". "Wtf is FPS+Z?". Well if you think of "normal" FPS games, you can walk in any direction, and jump, but that's pretty much it. In Tribes however, each player is equipped with a jetpack, that allows them to fly through the skies over great distances, if used correctly. This, combined with what in Tribes is known as "skiing", allows players to travel at pretty insane speeds, so even big distances can be covered in farily short time.

In Tribes, there are several game modes available, but these days 99.9-100% you would play CTF (Capture The Flag). I'm sure you all are familiar with that. In Tribes this type of gameplay is especially interesting, since the combination of high speed, powerful weapons and teamwork bring a lot of depth in this game.

All of the Tribes games are now LEGALLY FREE TO DOWNLOAD, so I would definitely recommend everyone to try out the newest of them, Tribes: Vengeance. Anyone who has played the older Tribes games may say that Tribes 1 and Tribes 2 are a lot better than Vengeance, and I agree that they are great games, however for example in Tribes 2, you will find no players in European servers, so starting there as a newbie with high ping is not really worth it. However in Tribes: Vengeance there is a steady European community. The community is pretty small, but very dedicated, and there is even a small league for clan matches going on (atm only 4 clans in the league (yeah pretty sad but we do our best)).

Not sure if you want to try it? Here are some pros and cons:

+ Absolutely FREE
+ A whole lot different from the typical FPS games out there
+ The mechanics allow you to move at very high speeds (and that is pretty addicting)
+ The game simply kicks any other games ass!

- Unfortunately there are very few players, BUT still enough for everyday public gaming, and even clan gaming in the league.
- It might be difficult to learn if you never have tried anything like it, BUT once you learn the basics it will become a lot easier!
- The community is small, BUT it is quite nice that everyone knows eachother well.

So even with a few bad sides I see no reason why not at least try out the game, being free and so. The ultimate dream would be that enough people from this clan would start playing it actively so we could start a Tribes squad, get l33t and join the league :). But I guess that is a bit unrealistic, so even a few new players to that game would be great.

P.S. The game developers Hi-Rez studios have bought the Tribes IP and are currently developing a new Tribes game YAY! (altho a lot of what they plan to implement there really worries me -.-)

Also there is a site called something like tvdl.maloxtv.com

In these sites, search for Tribes ReVengeance. In tvinvo.com you should see it right there when you enter. There are three versions: basic, BEML and x2. I would recommend to get x2, or at least BEML, to get many custom made and often played maps (the retail maps are rarely played among the more experienced players).

And I am 100% sure these files are clean, we want to get new players into the game, not scare away them with malware!
