Can't seem to connect to steam, keep getting error "Could not connect to Steam network"

check your firewall(s) aren't blocking it.

if you use peer guardian, try disabling it, ive had it blocking steam servers 2 or 3 times in the past.

otherwise it might just be steam, quite often some peoples accounts wont connect while others will connect fine.

Firewall settings are exactly the same. Steam was working this morning, then i tried to go on it in the the evening, and thats when the error start to come up.

I've got my bro's laptop connected via a cross over cable, and was checking if he could run apps on my pc through his laptop. So i went on steam through my bro's laptop, and it worked. Could that have any effect?
