Now that LotR has finally come to Bahrain and I've finally seen it, I thought I'd just check and see what the consensus is on the best trilogy ever.
Now I know that technically Starwars isn't a trilogy...
And I know that there are rumours of a fourth Indiana Jones and Godfather film coming out.
And I know that I didn't include Aliens, but there's four of them, even though I don't count the fourth one because it's complete crap.
And I haven't included the Die Hard trilogy, because there isn't enough choice fields, although I wanted to because it is a very fine trilogy indeed.
And there's probably a number of other trilogies I've missed out... like Debbie Does Dallas 1, 2 and 3.
So sue me.
My choice has to be LotR. Genius direction, phenomenal cinematography, superb music, stunning effects, amazing acting and cast, excellent story AND Gollum. Nothing else really comes close, but Indiana Jones is probably my second choice.

i thought the lotr films were good but it was spoiled in the last 30 mins of the 3rd film tbh - im off to bed now but will explain more 2moro...

Starwars 4,5 and 6 all they way baby! I still want to be a Jedi. But a good question. LOTR is really good, and Indi is a close second....but starwars takes it, hands down.

My choice was LOTR simply for "my precious" Smeegal aka
Gollum, just amazing character, but also because i
enjoyed all of them immensly, certainly better than
any indy film ,Aliens only the first 2 really count as
quality, Star wars a very very close second for me ,
Matrix part 1 was awesome 2nd 1 was just ok 3rd 1 was
terrible.Godftaher very good series but a bit tedious
in places.Back to the future , your avin a larf aint
you? Die hards not in the same ball park as LOTR and
Star Wars .

Agree with Womble mostly, although I rather like Alien3 - it was underrated. But the less said about the 4th one the better...
Matrix 3 was so incredibly dreadful I almost wanted to grab the film-makers by the hair, shake them about and shout 'WHY?' loudly.
Starwars on the other hand is somewhat overrated for me. Lucas took chunks of a lot of other stories, in particular the LotR books, and set them in space (check out how many mirrors there are between the two trilogies storylines). Some of the acting is just downright terrible (No wonder Hamill never made anything much else), the cinematography is nothing to write home about, and nor is the dialogue. They're good films, but without Harrison Ford in particular and the lightsabres, they would be something of a yawn. Impressed overly not was I, as Yoda might say.

btw womble, Mark Hamill was approached to make films afterwards many times, but refused since he wanted to only work in theatre after that.

and apparently one of the brothers who made the matrix is getting some gender re-assignment, (he go get his pee pee cut off) so they wont be brothers anymore. I guess demon can have the leftovers, since HE LOVES THE COCK!!!

I hope you guys aren't throwing in votes without even having watched/read all of the trilogies, at least those listed in the poll~ I wouldn't have, at least   And I have definitely not seen nor read all of them... I have a master of a brother o_o Beat a european master in Unreal and pretty much 'invincible'. I think he's pretty good is CS, too~ But I doubt he'll ever have time to show me anything -_-;
But first I'll have to get the game, though =P And maybe I'll have to teach myself, as I do in most things~ It may progress slowly, but... 
Shooting games... I don't think it's my thing... o_o; Griz knows how I cope with the Metal Gear Solid games on PS2... *ahem* But nothing more about that.
