UK only...so any of you wise older clan guys who've already been got any tips ?
Im planning on going to Derby, ive got my course researched and checkcd what grades i need and the points and everything.
Im going for Creative Writing, 3 year full time degree. Derby. I enjoy the things involved (writing poetry, stories etc) and decided it would be a good course since i cant get into the computer area anymore.
So, tips/comments oh wise elders ? :P
And i could post my poetry and stuff if anyones interested. lol.

If you're doing creative writing and poetry you're going to need some kind of a unique scarf and hat combination, paired with an interesting jacket that you will wear, no matter what the weather, and perhaps some thin cigarettes.
You will enjoy spending time in slightly pretentious coffee-bars (NOT Starbucks - unique, out-of-the-way places that probably play jazz) and browsing endlessly through bookshops and libraries. You will ALWAYS be carrying a book or some bits of paper, wherever you are. To create an air of intellect and imagination, spend a lot of time staring into space, zoning out of conversations and then snapping back with an "I'm sorry, I was miles away. Just thinking about Hemmingway."
I also think you should take up the piano, if you haven't already, and it's about time you stopped drinking beer and chose a fine cognac or wine.

Im gonna give a portfolio with my works to the uni i apply to..however
1.No weed
2.Never touch class A drugs....
3.Possibly get a girl
4.turn up to lectures smelling of computer parts and paper.
5.enjoy urself!!!
Yea i used to walk around with a pad to write stuff on, but then i lost my pad and couldnt be botherd to buy a new one. I will for uni though lol. Parents agreed to buy me a laptop and wireless internet for Uni, though i doubt they go through with it.
Now me futures sorted, im gonna concentrate on getting the grades i need. My results from first exams come back next thursday...soon be time to see if i can either laze about or panick and work harder.
Again thanks for tips :P and for the heck of it ill post a few crappy poems in my next post.

well not all of us like weed or any other class A drugs. Booze on the other hand :)
But what did you expect from some one going to do a Creative Writing degree.
The main set of tips I can give are as follows:
1. Think what you want your degree for.
2. Get a computer, the labs in all uni's suck.
3. Have fun, because thats what uni is for.
4. Never get stressed over deadlines and exams.
If you follow these you too can end up with a 2.2 like me :)

Heh thanks mates :P Yea im getting this degree to go into journalism or something like that, it also gives me 3 years to finish my book. Yea i like H recently =P inspiration strikes randomly and lately it involves things with a H in them.

I AM an image consultant Oompa – well, a branding consultant anyway, which is pretty similar. Thanks for the encouragement on me tips everyone – if anyone needs any more advice, let me know!

Right, I have to go home now... start of our weekend and I've got two sailing races back-to-back tomorrow, starting at 9:00am. (Groan).
