Elo lads, right slight problem!

Im trying to avoid buying a wireless adapter for live its 50quid bloody rip off.

So imm trying to use my pc to play live using an ethernet cable, tried everything nothing works. Now someone is telling me that i need a ethernet 'Crossover' cable, whats the difference? and will it work if i buy it? in urgent need basically, im sure i got everything else that is required! ta

crossover cable is a normal ethernet with two of the wires inside essentially swapped terminals.

no idea if it will work, you could make your own if you have an normal cable, a crimping tool and some new plugs, or they should be cheap enough to buy if you can find somewhere that still sells them.

or go to your local maplin and ask them to make you one up (might need to take a wiring diagram off google as I wouldn't trust them to know what it is!)

Yeah you probably could use a crossover but you would need to nic cards in your pc and im thinking your pc would have to do DHCP or you assign a manual IP to the xbox. the big question is why not straight to the router

well ive managed it with a normal ethernet cable, so ive saved myself 50quid there! Obviously its not my house, i dnt wanna be treadin a 5 metre cable to the frontroom downstairs.

Managed to come across this guide, this is what i did! so if anyone else needs it here.
