Right, i've decided to buy xbox 360 just because of gears of war.
Only prob is i need a reasonable monitor to go with it, my budget is around £200, and so far i have only one monitor which looks really good to me. Packard bell maestro what do you think? if you have something better for the same price range let me know please.

i cudnt find this on scan. I also found this, same sh*t but cheaper.
Acer its goin on offer for £140 on argos. What do you reckon?
Just did a quick search on scan, and found this asus Its about the same price as acer, but has better response time 5ms, compared to acer's 8ms and contrast ratio is also better at 800:1 (dnt knw what contrats ratio is really). So please, what do you think would be ideal for me xbox, any suggestions would be much appreciated
P.S. How much do scan charge for delivery?

You get the HD resoultions on a monitor which you don;t get on a regualar TV (HD tv's are £700+).
remember you will need to get an addtional cable to plug the 360 into the monitor.

I know, i need a vga cable to plug xbox in monitor.
Firstly, i dont have a tv in my room, and i dont fancy putting one in. I wanted to get the bravia but they are too expensive. Even though its small, but sill i'll atleast get a really good crisp picture compared to one on a tv (which i dont have). My cousin has similar setup, and the quality is superb, he's got the packard, but i'm going to get the acer. Its better then the packard and cheaper, however it dosent have built in speakers, which i dont want anyways.

right, just realised the monitor has only one input, therefore i cant conect my pc and xbox at the same time, for that reason i need to buy a vga switch. i've looked around found a couple on ebay. Does using a switch like that reduce quality in any way or form?
switch 1
switch 2

yes switches will reduce the quality of the picture, the better the switch the less quality drop.

yup. at £10, it's gonna look really REALLY sh*t...better off on a crt tv for a proper nice picture, your gonna need to fork out at least £50 on a switch.

the xbox i got was f**ked
I don't understand how, it was brand new, sealed, everything was wrapped up properly, no sign of tampering...I got the loading screen, then it goes black and says "System Error: contact customer support" and has an Error code E64.
I called customer support on skype (which was an 0800 number and didnt cost anything on skype out) and after holding for half an hour, and then speaking to rasheed or whoever it was, said that I needed to send it back to them to get it fixed or replaced
I need to put it in my own box, and not have xbox written anywhere on it, and print out some ups thing to stick on it and get them to pick it up. 10 working days

sounds about right for Xbox 360's they are not the most stable console going at the moment, but things are meant to be getting better.

return rates for 360s from our shop have been about 15% (and thats the ones that have come back to us within the 30 days - so not including the ones xbox send out to ppls houses).. usual return rates on new products are accepted as about 2%.

My cousin got his couple of months ago, he never had problem, as the later models are suppose to be more relialble.
I still havent got the xbox yet
ordered it from play, they didnt dispatch in time, so i cancelled that one and i'm gonna go to game and get it tomorow.
Also amazon took the piss, i ordered gears of war (which rocks), and they didnt dispatch today as they suppose to. But delivery is estimated for saturday, ah well one more day
