Anyone wall mounted their flatscreen before? Any tips?
I'm planning to mount my 40" Sony when I am back home in Feb before I decorate the lounge. Brackets now seem cheaper than when I looked when I first got the TV (surprised to see they are under £15). Will probably go with an Amazon 'basics' one - I know basic isn't exactly what I should be looking for when mounting £500 of kit on the wall, but their basics range usually comes up to scratch afaik. Unless anyone has a better tip for a good quality bracket for under say £25?
Also, anyone got any recommendations for good cable trunking/conduit? It needs to clip together and be capable of being opened later to add more cables if necessary, and big enough to take power and 2x HDMI. It will get painted so colour not a problem.

Pick an outside wall....then u know its brick. Get some very good Rawl plugs and if you dont use the right size, your insurance will be invalid.
And depends how many cables your running through it...this 1 will hold 8 cables here
make sure ya add em all up first....like ya said, 2HD cables..then a power cable....aerial....xbox cable...cam cable...
depends hjow many u need really but this 1 is quite thin and dont stick out too much...also if your tv is black it looks nice unpainted.

Cheers - forgot about the aerial! But think that it is, PS3 and media player are both on HDMI. That trunking is quite expensive though - there is cheaper from B&Q etc and it will probably get painted because it will go out from the right hand side of the TV so needs to be as hidden as possible. If it was going straight down I would indeed go for black or chrome.
It will go on a fireplace but that is brick so no problem there. The plaster is rubbish but I will go for long rawl plugs and screws which are nicely into the brick.

hold the bracket against the wall, get a paslode... or equally powerful nail gun, and go f**king crazy on it with a bunch of ringshanks!
Paslode
but yeah, on a more serious note..
plugs
Screws
Drill
Screwdriver
Glue
Some good looking trunking
if you dont plan on moving the tv ever, put some evo stick on it, before you screw it

Make sure you have someone to assist you, with the mount I worked with, it was impossible to do it by your own.
Also make sure to use good plugs/screws, the ones that (should) come with your mounting bracket might not be up to the job or just barely. Check them out before you start

Why will the viewing angle be wrong?
And why will I get a sore neck?
I'm aiming to keep it as low on the wall as possible, and it will now actually be in front of the sofa rather than in the corner.
Will be a while for pics - need to fit a new fireplace first, then mount it, then redecorate the lounge!

Ideal TV viewing angle (vertical) is around middle to upper part of the screen aligned with your head height.
If you mount it 5+ feet up a wall you will get a sore neck looking up at it from your sofa all the time...
do a few googleages and you will see lots of people saying dont do it...
