I am on study leave today for the first time since I was at Uni! My company kindly let me have one day off before each exam I take. Feels bizzarre lol.
I have my 70-649 (Windows 2008 upgrade from 2003) exam tomorrow morning. If i pass I get 3 qualifications for the price of one, but the exam is going to be a biiiiiitch! Its split into 3 sections for the 3 qualifications you earn from it. You have to get 70% in each section as well as for the overall, so even if you got 100% for the 1st two, then got 69% for the last one, you would fail! Eek!
I know Phil is a big IT exam geekz0r like me. Has anyone else taken any MS, Cisco, etc etc exams?

Only MCSA exams in 2000 - so WELL outta date on the qualifications. All my knowledge since comes from experience rather than books.

No time D - plus a realisation that in IT, it is experience that gets you a job not qualifications. Sure haveing letters after your name helps - but if you have never even touched the systems you are learning about you'll get nowt.

Yeah the person teaching the Cisco course bassicly said the same someone she had been working for had hire someone with all the cisco qualifications and then turned out not to have a clue what they were doing.
However support companies like mine need staff to have the qualifications because otherwise vendors wont give partner status's without enough staff with certain qualifications

Passed my exam today yay! 3 more MCTS in Win 2008!
I now have: VMware VCP in VI3 (and 2.5 yrs commercial VMware xp with 2.x and 3.x) MCSA / MCSE & MCSA / MCSE: Messaging in Win 2003 (5 yrs commercial xp in enterprises with 1000-3000 servers & 40k+ workstations) 4 of 5 exams for Win 2008 MCITP (no commercial 2008 xp but frankly if you know 2003 and vista, you know 2008 pretty much, the upgrade exam was a laughable affair) MCTS Exchange 2007 (As above, if you understand server 2008 and exchange 2003 its not a huge jump to support it) ITIL Foundation (ZzZzZz but companies like it - 5 yrs xp working under ITIL processes in enterprise environments) A Desmond for my BSc Comp Sci
I know xp is important, but many companies require the qualifications to back em up, or at minimum, to get you the interview.

Woot woot!
Passed my 70-647 Windows Server 2008: Enterprise Administrator exam this morning, which means I'm now a qualified MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) in Server 2008...
What a good weekend I've had lol.
