Well, some of you may have already guessed there was something going on... I decided our server was a bit underpowered so Ive replaced it...

We now have a Dell Poweredge 8150 server running Server 2003 Enterprise on the following spec:

2x 64bit 2.8GHz processors
3GB PC2-3200
2x 36.6GB 15,000 RPM SCSI disks

Needless to say, its nearly 3 times more powerful than our old box so we can run lots more on it!

Ive already upped the man size of every server by a couple of slots and re-introduced the DoD Source server. I would say we can run at least 2-3 more server processes, for example gama and I were discussing running a gun game server, though I guess we MIGHT be able to run to a zombie mod server if push came to shove...

BTW gama - I have had to temp disable amx from all the HLDS servers as when I migrated it it was bombing them out every time. metamod is still functioning though but amx is disabled on all servers and the jump server wont even boot so ive set it to manual for now. We need to discuss this sometime tomorrow so we can get it working again. Ive also changed the admin account name as people kept trying to brute force the pwd and locking out the account.

Finally, if anyone wishes to help chip in to help me out with the cost of the new H/W I would be very grateful. This is of course entirely voluntary and has nothing to do with the standard server payments for admin. Chiefpff has already made a very sizeable contribution so thanks very much chief!

Id just like to add something , personally i didnt think it played aswell as it did this afternoon when i was on it with gama and grizz After the amx mods etc had been installed , maybe it was my connection again but my gut feeeling says that installing the mods seemed to make a difference to me . But still no choke n loss and my ping seemed to be mostly good with a bit of spiking  i seemed to be lagging apparently . Im not moaning im just passing this on so as to gather info incase its helpful to Demon or Gama .

This afternoon i had near perfect reg with over 10 players playing, this evening with similar numbers it defo didnt play aswell , as i said this is just info i want to pass on , i think if everyone monitors closely the servers performance it will benefit all of us .

If its not to much trouble , if this continues id like the mods taking off temporarily just to see if it makes any difference or wether its just my conn playing up .

Could everyone who plays regularly on the servers keep a eye on how they play please , just so we can fine tune and keep them running as smoothly as poss to benefit everyone ? thx guys .

yer i think it has lost its 10/10 , still a 9/10 tho and pretty damn good , im just wondering wether amx or whatevers been put on the server has had a detramental effect on it ?

I still think people monitoring the servers and reporting on them is better than moaning about them , especially as people that do most of the moaning are the ones that dont pay regularly.

I used to whinge about about reg and loss n choke , and was told it was my connection , seems i was right , we get new good hardware and no more loss n choke for me and im getting mostly good pings , so it would seem i was right all along . It was the server not perfming well enough for my conn or just not performing well at all , either way the new hardware has significantly improved things around here.

I dodnt think we are planning on running a zombie mod server as only mash would use it and me very occassionally .

The jump server is at least 50-70% full most of the time...
