So how many of you are going to get one of the 312 different versions of Windows Vista available? (sorry, slight exaggeration – there's only SIX.)

Personally, I think I'll stick with XP for now (now that it's finally pretty reliable), and the ever cat-like grace of OS X Tiger, which has been doing for years what Vista is now catching up with.

In my opinion its always wise to wait a bit till the small bugs are worked out of an OS and every program you have is compatible with it, although Ive heard some very good things about vista, so I'm thinking about ignoring my own advise :P .
Oh and as always the one with the most options is mine, which is vista ultimate I believe(warezed ofcourse), cant count the times that someone's computer was missing some drivers from which I thought windows XP should have by default, but then it turned out they had the home version instead of professional .

Using the ultimate edition now ive forced some scsi drivers from win 2000 to work looks very flashy some nice
features but lack of drivers for most old hardware will prevent it being my main os

I had no end of problems with drivers and windows 64...vista should be better eventually, but like windows 2000 to xp, I’d think it will take a good year or so.

I've found Xp to far better then 2k, but then the only 2k machine i've used is this POS work machine that will most likey BSOD for no reason again.

As for Vista I plan on getting it when I build my new machine next year, the improved driver model and DX10 are the current main reasons for wanting it.

I only switched to XP last year - as I was of the same opinion as gama and stuck with 2K (Which never once BSODd btw). I figured that by the time i switched it would be pretty solid and I was right.

I've only ever BSODd in XP ONCE, and that was about a millisecond after my motherboard cooked itself - so I'll let it away with it!

Tbh lads - if you're BSODing regularly then remember this.. 95% of computer errors are user errors. So whether you're surfing 30 trojan ridden warez sites all at the same time, with steam, photoshop, outlook, messenger, office, ventrillo, skype, limewire, kazaa(!), dc++ and bitcomet all running at the same time OR you've just put on your nice new woolly jumper, rubbed a balloon on your head and stuck in that 1 gig stick you got for a fiver off of ebay.. dont be surpised if your screen goes blue!

My BSODS are with a work machine thats not had anything installed on it in about 8 odd months, and it normally happens when I'm not using it.

The align to grid option for the desktop under XP is enough for me to move over to it.

Xp is fine for me. No vista, since it takes ram to run and is even less compatible with older games.

If it wont run brutal-paws of fury , then i dont want it :P

I have never had a BSOD in XP – to be honest I didn't even know it was possible in XP! It seems very solid indeed (on my computer anyway), which is why I would be wary about changing to Vista. If it ain't broke (or even creaking), then why change it?

you wont be saying that when you get a new cpu with multiple 64 bit cores which runs fast as hell on vista, and not so fast on xp...
