Okay, lets say I downloaded a lot of emails (145) from my account using Outlook on the PC. And upon receiving them locally, they are all deleted from the server.

Now lets say I want to receive the SAME emails in Outlook on a different computer, in a different country.

How do I put the emails BACK onto the Server, so they can be picked up again? Presumably there is a way... otherwise I will have to email the whole lot to the same address again, and all the 'From' fields will change to my address, which would be a pain in the ass.

Is there a way? Does anyone know it? Demon the Networking Wizard, please help me out! I think I owe you quite a lot of beer for all the help you give me (if you drink beer these days – if not, then Whisky).

Cheers...

hmmm ok, i dont no how u wud go about sendin them back to the server... dunno if that possible. as the whole thing about outlook express and ms outlook is that u as in the user can only use the pc outlook is set up wif to check ur mail...

ok it is easy to go into the properties and change ur pop3 and smtp servers so that u can receive ur mail on a diff comp or if u got a new comp ect...but i reckon u will prob have to resend all the 145 mails to ur self. set up outlook on the new pc wif the settins etc and then hit send receive or what ever it is called... sit back and wait...

or u might find ur isp has a webmail service and u can access ur mail from that instead of d/lin them thro outlook to ur pc.. or they might still be in the webmail server so check it...

anyways i prob not much help.. im sure one of tech guys eg demon can prob help...

it all depends if your mail server supports IMAP or not. If so, set it up as a section in your Outlook client (eg like you do with hotmail) then simpy drag and drop everything back in to the inbox from your PST or wherever theyre stored. If it doesnt support IMAP you may struggle...

oh, and for future ref, if its pop3, ytou can set in your settings to leave emails on a server until youve deleted them from your mailbox, effectively making it work like IMAP, however this wont help with the stuff youve already downloaded.

To set this in Outlook 2003, go to:

Tools / EMail Accounts / YourPOP3Account / More Settings / Advanced

Then you will see the options at the bootom:

"Leave a copy of the message on the server"
"Remove from..."
"Remove from..."

Just select your preferred options.

Well the Demon has done it again... the IMAP trick worked a charm and now the client has all 145 emails back on the server, so they can pick them up in the UK. Glad it's not me... 145 emails and none of them are even spam.

I knew about the leaving message on server thing, but I forgot to turn it on when creating the account earlier. Cheers dude, saved me a lot of hassle with that info. You d'man!
