Why, Why, WHY!

My new 250gb hdd has just fried thanks to my PSU frying and throwing a paddy. The PSU i can deal with. it was a good psu but it happens. but why did it have to take out my new hdd which i've had about 2 months and destroying pictures that i wanted to keep from france that ment alot to me which are now lost forever :'( the hours and hours of work ripping my dvd's to the drive are lost to :(

and befor you say, i couldnt back it up because i was using it in a caddy as my backup drive to my laptop because its cd-rw isnt working and i was just about to back it up to dvd when the PSU blew its to (that was impressive though, flames, smoke, the lot, good thing the house power supply tripped or it really could have gone up)

Are you completly sure you cant get the stuff back from the harddrive, like send it to a company or something?
