BSP files can only be loaded up in game, it's the .map, .vmf that are loaded up in hammer.

The first way I described is how to find leaks in 1.6 maps,
the second method is definatly in the updated hammer editor for source mapping but I can't remember if it's in the older editor for hl1 mapping.
It's been a few years since I did any cs1.6 mapping.

a site with some HL1 mapping tut's is http://www.migandi.org.uk/tutorials/Half-Life%20Tutorials.htm

There are lots of details online on how to stop and fix leaks, as this is an important thing in mapping it's something you really should try to learn and thus make better maps.

yeah i was about to post the same Gouldie, you cant use .bsp files to make maps, you need the .vmf/map files,

its a good thing too otherwise there would be even more clones of dust and the likes than there are already! stops people from robbing other peoples maps too!

there was a tool for decompiling maps, i have tried it but it creates so many errors that it is almost not worth the effort.

you can but winbspc doesnt convert the walls correctly , you get the shape but the walls are not shaped as they were built they are just cut to fit the shape, it means if you want to use them you have to recreate other walls to join,

Decompiling maps to make new ones is a bad idea, as you will spend just as much time replacing ALL the walls in map as you would making a new one.

I know, one of my maps started off as a converted Doom2 map, and it's been nothing but bother replacing walls and stuff.

ok i downloaded your maps and ran them

on dust7 - to start, you have no lighting again, it is full bright and has no shadows so initally it looks bad. the use of textures is very poor as you have not bothered to scale them correctly or where they have a spray or tag on them you have copied it down the wall so it looks silly,

there is nothing in the map other than walls and crates, all of the walls are the same height so it looks silly and the layout seems random and in many circumstances poorly designed,

i would say it is nothing like dust only in name and textures its early days for the map i guess and is by no means a finished article.

on chess_awp - again no lighting used so it looks odd, especially as you have set them on night-time sky texture, which i would not have recommended.

well done on mapping the chess characters but can i ask why you have them transparent, it seems to me odd that you would be able to see through them especially as you have used a wood texture. i do not see how the game would be enjoyable as you know exactly where the opponents would be and probably you would be able to shoot through the walls and kill them with the awp, hence ruining any game play to it anyway.

I HATE SHADOWS.I NOW IT SEEM BRIGHT.
ON CHESSE AWP I PUT TRANSPARENT BECAUSE IT SHOULD BE A GLASS BUT I PUT WOOD TEXTURE BECAUSE IS TRADITIONAL FOR CHESSE TO BY MADE OF WOOD...(AM BEGINNER I USE HAMMER FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS)BUT RESUME WITH COMENTS ITS BEST WAY TO LEARN OWN PROBLEMS
